Snapchat’s daily video views have increased by 400% year-on-year from 2 billion to 10 billion and, now boasts over 10 billion videos views per day, according to Bloomberg, surpassing rival Facebook’s 8 billion daily video views (Fortune). It now has more users than Twitter with an estimated 150 million people now on the platform with 60% of users between 18 -34. So with social media world domination now on the map for Snapchat it’s fair to say Snapchat CEO Evan Spiegel made the best decision of his life by turning down Facebook’s buy out offer of $3 Billion in 2013.
So it comes as no surprise that Snapchat have now released Memories which enable users to share photos and videos from there camera roll or saved on their device. This could be seen as an aggressive move to influence the Facebook fence sitters still considering Snapchat as their preferred social but in essence it is just the evolution of the platform as it matures into a fully fledged social media powerhouse.
